drawings from the brain injured

These are a mixture of pen and ink drawings, water color pencils and water color crayons; some are collaged and layered, some are drawn directly on paper.

In December of 2019, I was in a car accident that resulted in a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). This accident is part of every day of my life. My brain, though still slowly healing, will never return to what it was nor will I to who I was. This is ok, this is life, this is reality.
Part of my way through this time was drawing, pen on paper, every day. Slow, repetitive lines, shapes, marks. The collaged pieces take drawings from my notebooks filled over the first 6 months post accident and then they are drawn over, water-colored over – they are still the work I did to cope, survive, to do something and they are me now, 5 years later, trying to understand the me of now.
